Accessibility

We want every bookkeeper, and every client they send a link to, to be able to use ledgental.com and the Ledgental app, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, zoom, or a small phone. Our target is WCAG 2.2 level AA.

What we do

This covers ledgental.com and the app at app.ledgental.com, including the pages clients open from a link.

Text with a contrast of at least 4.5:1 against its background, and field borders of at least 3:1.
Body text of 16 pixels or larger, and lines of about 75 characters or fewer.
Buttons and stand-alone links at least 44 pixels tall on phones.
A visible outline on whatever has keyboard focus.
Pages that work 320 pixels wide and when zoomed, without scrolling sideways.
Pages your clients open from a link work on a phone, without an account.
We check pages with an automated test at three screen widths, from a small phone to a desktop.

What still needs work

We know about these and are fixing them:

Some fields in the free tools still have light borders and 14-pixel text.
A few small labels in the tools are under 14 pixels, and a few small buttons are under 44 pixels tall.
Some image captions in the guides are lighter than a 4.5:1 contrast.
The rental property template uses number fields, which some voice-control software can't fill in.
Some buttons in the tools stay turned off until a field is filled in, instead of saying what's missing.
We haven't yet tested the site and the app with people who use screen readers.
